Miguel Rodriguez
Miguel Rodriguez is the owner and head instructor at Cornerstone Jiu Jitsu Academy. In high school, Miguel was an accomplished varsity wrestler. After high school, Miguel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry man; where he further trained in hand to hand combat. After his time in the service, Miguel longed for the grappling he did in his youth as well as the camaraderie he found in the Corps. He found both in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Like many of his generation, Miguel was captivated by Royce Gracie’s domination in the early days of the UFC. After trying a class, Miguel became a passionate student of BJJ. Miguel has been studying since 2006 without interruption. While primarily focused on BJJ, Miguel loves all forms of grappling (Judo, Catch Wrestling, and Submission Wrestling) and incorporates techniques from other disciplines into his game. Miguel is a black belt (awarded by Sean Cooper) and a member of the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation.
Miguel is a firm believer that anyone can learn BJJ. He has been teaching BJJ to both children and adults for many years. He is a passionate instructor who dedicates countless hours to developing his skills and enthusiastically passes his knowledge on in order to help others improve.
Miguel lives in Leander with his wife and two children. In his free time he likes to train BJJ.
