Our Instructors

Miguel Rodriguez is the owner and head instructor at Cornerstone Jiu Jitsu Academy. In high school, Miguel was an accomplished varsity wrestler. After high school, Miguel enlisted in the United States Marine Corps as an Infantry man where he further trained in hand to hand combat. After his time in the service, Miguel longed for the grappling he did in his youth as well as the camaraderie he found in the Corps. He found both in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ). Like many of his generation, Miguel was captivated by Royce Gracie's domination in the early days of the UFC. After trying a class, Miguel became a passionate student of BJJ. Miguel has been studying since 2006 without interruption.
